Our purpose is to support the empowerment of Acequia communities through research and understanding of the legal, social, historical, cultural, and political entitlements afforded to Acequias in New Mexico, with a greater emphasis on the Middle Rio Grande Region.

Acequias are more than simple ditches. They carry the knowledge that comes from old civilizations from North Africa, the Iberian Pensinsul, and Meoamerica. We support communities to safeguarding traditional knowledge and cultural practices associated to Acequia cultural traditions and governance.

The ARC group maintains a rigorous research standards to be able to provide the best science based information to inform our Acequia communities, policy makers, and the general public.
